Customer testimonials
We had a great experience with Nancy and BetterDog.ca! Her personal touch and one-on-one training in the home makes a real difference. Our six month old Springer Spaniel named Beau responded so well to this style of training. We are very impressed

C’était une première pour nous et on a que des éloges à faire à Madame Nancy. Je recommande a tous les propriétaires de chiens. Nancy est une personne exceptionnelle comme thérapeute pour chiens, que de bons conseils
Bella, Gatineau
Jon is a serious miracle worker!! Within just a few sessions he had my dog’s behaviour so much more manageable and I have learned so many tricks and tips from his training. From one seriously frustrated dog parent, this is the company to choose for any training needs, I can’t imagine how my dog would have turned out without his help!

Does everyone need to be there?
While it's highly beneficial for all family members who regularly interact with the dog to participate in the training, it's not absolutely mandatory for everyone to be present. However, having as many household members involved as possible will lead to the best results.
Here's why
Consistency is key: When all family members learn and apply the same training techniques, it creates a consistent environment for the dog, which is crucial for effective learning and behavior modification.
Shared understanding: Having everyone present ensures that all family members understand the reasoning behind the training methods, making it easier to maintain the training protocols in daily life.
Unified approach: When the whole family is on the same page, it prevents confusion for the dog that can arise from different people using different commands or techniques. Bonding opportunity: The training sessions can serve as a family bonding experience, bringing everyone together in the common goal of improving communication with your pet.
Addressing individual concerns: Each family member might have different interactions or challenges with the dog. Having everyone present allows the trainer to address these specific issues. If some family members absolutely cannot attend, it's recommended that those who do participate share the information and techniques learned with the absent members.

Should my young kids attend?
We have a small but important part of the training specifically designed for children, where we demonstrate how to behave around dogs safely and respectfully. However, for children below 13, we believe it's best for them to simply enjoy having dogs as buddies.

The deeper relationship and responsibilities can come later as they grow older and more capable of understanding and applying the training principles.

Of course, this is just our recommendation—ultimately, it's your kids and your decision. If you feel it's beneficial for them to participate, we're more than happy to include them in a way that's appropriate and engaging for their age.

Some of my family don't speak English or French
No problem at all! This is about learning to communicate with your dog, and language barriers won't stand in the way of that. Our training focuses on universal signals, body language, and consistent commands that transcend spoken language.

Just let us know in advance about your family's language needs, and we'll do our best to accommodate and ensure everyone can participate effectively. We're here to make this a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and we're confident we can pull off some magic to make it work!
